“ The wonderful staff made me feel like an old friend. ”

Welcome to a place steeped in history, a home-away-from-home, where you’ll be made to feel warmly welcomed after your travels by our friendly and attentive team.

Our main Lodge buildings and 24 chalet rooms are immersed in abundant jungle-like gardens boasting towering palm and mango trees where Colobus and other monkeys reign supreme, and overlook a small dam where water buffalo wallow and yellow-billed storks congregate. There are quiet nooks dotted all around our grounds, perfect for sitting and pondering and soaking up the atmosphere. It is our sincere hope that you’ll leave here feeling rested and restored and ready for your next steps.

“ All the staff will do everything to make
your stay unforgettable. “

Your travels

From adventure-seekers to slow-travellers and family groups, our guests travel from far and wide to northern Tanzania for the safari of a lifetime. We are conveniently located between Arusha Town and Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), making us the ideal stopover before your onward journey to Mount Meru, Mount Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. We invite you to rest and enjoy a good meal, and even a massage.

Your stay

Enjoy our lush gardens, our balmy swimming pool, our home-cooked meals, comfortable rooms and a variety of activities from canoeing on nearby Lake Duluti to strolling through the local Usa River town. But first, stop and linger in our reception area where you’ll find the photographic story of the Lodge’s unique history, dating back to 1959, when Dr Andreas Von Nagy arrived in Tanzania from his home in Balatonederics, Hungary.

Your meals

From three-course buffet dinners to a la carte salads, curries, wood-fired pizzas, kids’ and vegetarian options and more, every dish we prepare here at Mount Meru Game Lodge is made from scratch. On our menu you’ll find world dishes, as well as Swahili meals such as wali na maharage (rice and beans) to chipsi mayai (an egg and potato combination) to give you a taste of local tastes and ingredients.
